Oil spec checker
Compare the manual requirement against the bottle label. Start with viscosity, then check API, ILSAC, ACEA, dexos, and OEM approvals as separate fields.

Common label cues
- API Donut
- Back-label mark that lists service category and viscosity.
- Starburst
- Front-label mark for eligible ILSAC fuel-economy oils such as GF-7A.
- Shield
- Mark for eligible low-viscosity 0W-16 ILSAC oils such as GF-7B.
- OEM approval
- Brand-specific approval like dexos, VW, MB, BMW, Ford, Honda, or Porsche.
This checker is conservative. It does not read photos, certify oil, infer approvals, or treat a related spec as an exact match.
What the checker does, and does not, infer
- It compares the grade as an exact field first: a viscosity mismatch is not hidden by a good API or OEM label.
- It checks 24 selectable spec labels across 11 label families: API, ILSAC, GM, ACEA, VW, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Honda, Porsche, JASO.
- Related labels are not treated as exact approvals. If the manual says one approval and the bottle shows a related one, the result stays unknown until the manual or manufacturer says it is allowed.
- Paste boxes are only hint extractors. The final result comes from the fields you select, not from photo recognition or certification data.
